VIO Drone Visual Navigation Module

VIO Drone Visual Navigation Module

The ZK-N200M VIO Drone Visual Navigation Module (VIO) is a vision-based positioning device that addresses the issue of drones being unable to fly normally when GPS signals are lost or spoofed. By observing ground textures through a downward-facing camera and combining this data with the flight controller’s current attitude, the VIO estimates the aircraft’s motion relative to the ground, providing the drone with precise, real-time positioning. This module does not require preloaded satellite maps and can begin operating immediately in any unfamiliar area with visible ground textures.

product overview

The ZK-N200M VIO Drone Visual Navigation Module (VIO) is a vision-based positioning device compatible with PX4 and APM flight controllers for FPV drones. It is the solution to drones being unable to fly properly when GPS signals fail or are spoofed.

The core components of the ZK-N200M VIO Drone Visual Navigation Module include: AI motherboard, high-definition camera, and a laser rangefinder. The AI motherboard, equipped with a powerful main controller, processes visual and inertial data from the flight controller's IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), using algorithms to perform real-time attitude estimation and position estimation for the drone. The high-definition camera provides high-resolution visual input, capturing environmental imagery and serving as the image foundation for feature point extraction and motion estimation algorithms. The laser rangefinder assists the drone in achieving accurate altitude measurement, obstacle distance detection, and terrain following, compensating for the limitations of vision systems in low-light and textureless scenes.

Compatible Flight Controller

  • Supports PX4 1.15 and above, and APM Copter 4.6.0 and above.
  • For commercial flight controllers based on PX4 or APM, if the base version supports VIO, this module can be used directly.
  • For proprietary flight controllers developed in-house, plug-and-play functionality is not supported; both parties will need to work together to develop compatibility.

Product Advantages

  • VIO GPS Free navigation does not rely on any radio signals, such as interference-resistant,spoofing-resistant, undetectable
  • Ignore GPS Jamming: fuses visual/IMU data for GPS-denied waypoint navigation
  • Compatibility: compatible with a variety of drone models
  • Easy to deploy: operates without dependency on pre-existing geospatial data
  • No Development Required-just simple configuration

FAQ

FAQ

01. What is the principle behind module positioning?

The VIO navigation module uses a downward-facing camera and a ground-facing TOF laser rangefinder to estimate the aircraft's motion relative to the ground by observing ground textures and combining that data with the aircraft's current attitude.

02.Does the module require a pre-installed map?

No pre-loaded maps are required; you can start working right away in any unfamiliar area with ground textures.

03.What are the module's requirements for the compass used in drones?

This module requires relatively accurate heading information; we recommend using a high-quality compass (RM3100 or better) installed in a location with minimal

interference.

04.What are the applicable flight altitudes and speeds for this module?

The current version supports flight altitudes of 30–200 meters and a maximum flight speed of 15 meters per second. Higher-performance versions will be released in the future, supporting higher altitudes and faster speeds.

05.Can the module be used on a tethered drone?

Yes, it can be used on tethered drones.

06.Does the module support operation without GPS at all?

Supported. Since visual positioning can only provide relative positions, if absolute positions are required, the absolute coordinates of the takeoff

point must be manually specified before takeoff.
